The EuroSLA Executive Committe is delighted to announce that this year’s recipients of Distinguished Scholar Award is Professor Rosa Manchón.
The award celebrates Rosa’s groundbreaking contributions to second language acquisition. Her research on the cognitive dimensions of second language writing and its pivotal role in language development has shaped key theoretical and empirical debates in the field. As former editor of the Journal of Second Language Writing and current editor of the book series Research Methods in Applied Linguistics, she has also steered the direction of applied linguistic research more broadly. Rosa is widely recognised as an exceptional mentor, known for her thoughtful guidance, intellectual generosity, and unwavering support for students and early career researchers.
The award will be presented to Rosa at the 34th EuroSLA conference in Tromsø.
