1. As announced at this year’s AGM, the Executive Committee is seeking to appoint an Associate Editor for JESLA, the Journal of the European Association, to assist the journal Editor, Sarah Liszka, starting 18th February 2019. https://www.euroslajournal.org/

The main duties associated with this position are copy-editing and proof-reading submissions that have been accepted, in addition to providing ad hoc assistance to the editor where appropriate, such as corresponding with reviewers and authors. Please note, that given the tight deadlines and swift turnaround from submission to publication (6-9 months), there are intense periods of work at certain points in the year and you may be asked to complete an editorial task at short notice.

If you are interested in applying for this post, please send a one-page Expression of Interest and an abridged CV or professional weblink to Sarah Liszka by 14th January 2019. Those shortlisted will be asked to complete a short copy-editing and proof-reading task to be returned within a week. Candidates will be informed of the outcome of their application by 11th February 2019. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Sarah S.A.Liszka@gre.ac.uk

We are very pleased to announce that starting with the 2019 issue, JESLA will publish the best work by EUROSLA members, irrespective of whether the work was presented at the annual conference. Submissions are accepted from all EUROSLA members of good standing – i.e. current members who have attended at least one EUROSLA conference in the last three years. The submitted papers may draw on the work presented at the conference, but could also be new work not previously showcased at EUROSLA.

Deadlines and turnaround times
Papers can now be submitted at any point. The review process will start in January 2019, and the papers received before 14 January will be published in summer 2019. Accepted papers submitted after January will be published on a rolling basis later in the year. The turnaround time between submission and publication will remain 6-9 months.

Article length
Papers should be between 7,000 and 8,000 words in length (including the abstract, acknowledgements, references, endnotes, tables/figures and their legends). Please follow the journal’s Author Guidelines when preparing your paper (see Submission tab on our website: https://www.euroslajournal.org/about/submissions/)

JESLA best article award
There is an award for the best paper submitted to JESLA in any one year. The prize consists of a EUROSLA conference fee and dinner waiver + a framed certificate presented at the AGM. The prize for the 2019 best paper will be presented at the 2020 AGM.

We look forward to receiving your papers!

Best wishes,

Sarah Liszka, JESLA Editor,
