Call for nominations EuroSLA executive committee

Dear EuroSLA member,

The next EUROSLA Executive Committee elections will be held during our Conference in Reading 2017. Our constitution states that ‘officers and members of the Executive Committee shall be elected for two years, and the tenure of executive officers shall be maximally two terms’. The present Executive Committee was elected two years ago in Aix-en-Provence, and is therefore due for renewal.

The composition of the executive committee is: President, 2 Vice-Presidents, Secretary, Treasurer, and 3 Ordinary members. The current elected officers (http://www.eurosla.org/executive-committee/) are:

President: Danijela Trenkic, University of York

Vice-Presidents: Alex Housen, Free University Brussels, & Sharon Unsworth, Radboud University, Nijmegen

Treasurer: Sible Andringa, University of Amsterdam

Secretary: Clare Wright, University of Leeds

Ordinary members: Laura Dominguez, University of Southampton; Roger Gilabert, University of Barcelona; Pascale Leclercq, University of Paul-Valery, Montpellier 3

EUROSLA therefore invites nominations to all positions on the Executive Committee. Most current officers are willing to stand for a second term, and will be nominated in due course; however, the position of Vice-President will become vacant as Sharon Unsworth will not be standing for a second term.

Any member of EUROSLA in good standing with the Association for the current year as well as the previous year is eligible as a candidate for election. Nominations should include a short paragraph suggesting why that person would be good to have on the EC, and must also be accompanied by a statement to the effect that the nominee in question has agreed to let his/her name go forward. If the number of nominations received exceeds the number of positions available, an election by secret ballot will take place during the AGM in Reading.

The nomination deadline closes 24 hours before the AGM (usually the Friday evening of Conference). Nominations should be emailed to me as Secretary of the Executive Committee.

If you have any queries about what the EC work involves, don’t hesitate to contact me.

Best wishes
Clare Wright
Secretary, EuroSLA EC
